China's AI assistants: Doubao, DeepSeek, Yuanbao
Our main work is independent stores selling overseas. If you also sell in China, we can cover Chinese AI assistants as well. They draw on different sources from the ones ChatGPT or Perplexity use, so the work is different too.
What's different
- More weight on third-party platforms. News sites, portals and creator platforms show up a lot in Chinese AI answers; brand websites are often not the main source.
- Each assistant has platforms it favours. Doubao's web search API documentation lets developers pick Toutiao and Douyin as sources. Yuanbao can search WeChat Official Account articles. Real, checkable content from you on those platforms matters.
- Hosting. Pages meant for Chinese engines go into your own site or a host in mainland China, under a domain with an ICP filing.
How we do it
- A brand brief: your strongest advantages and the evidence for each.
- Answer pages, one question each, on your own site.
- A monthly manual check: 20 questions asked in the Doubao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Yuanbao and ERNIE apps, logging whether you're mentioned and whom they cite.
Priced like the overseas quarterly service, from US$2,990 a quarter, and accepted against the AIV score.
What we won't do in China either
In April 2026 China's internet regulator launched a campaign that names "malicious marketing using GEO" to poison AI answers. We only do work that holds up to scrutiny.
- Buying paid articles for youPlacing ads on your behalf would make us an ad agency under Chinese rules, with record-keeping duties we haven't set up. If you buy, you buy, labelled as advertising.
- Mass posting and account farmsThe same claim pushed through many accounts is exactly the "poisoning" regulators target.
- Mention-rate promisesWe don't quote "40% in two weeks, 70% in a month".
